Yue XU (Benjamin)

Living in Hong Kong since undergraduate study in 2008, Benjamin currently serves communication and event officer of UI Alumni Association HK Chapter. He graduated with Master of Science in Finance in 2016 from UIUC. When finished master study, he decided to come back to where it started as believing more opportunity in financial consultancy sector will exist in Hong Kong and China in future.

He is now working in investment consultancy sector specializing in asset pricing, valuation advisory and corporate financial analyses. He is also a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) and regular member of Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts (HKSFA).

Karen ZHAO

Born and grew up in Shanghai, Karen attended UIUC after graduating from high school. She majored in Actuarial Science and Economics in UIUC and was member of Actuarial Science, Finance, and Economics Club there. After graduating from UIUC, Karen pursued her master’s degree in financial engineering at Columbia University, where she built her business network with alumnus from different schools in New York. When she finished her master’s degree, Karen decided to come back to Hong Kong to do finance as she believes more opportunity will exist in China going forward.

She is now working as an analyst at equity research department at Mizuho Securities Asia, with a focus on China Property.

Frank WANG

Frank currently serves as Event Officer of UI Alumni Association HK Chapter. He graduated as Bachelor of Accounting Class in 2015 and Master of Accounting Science (MAS) in 2016.

Coming from Beijing, he works at Corporate Finance Department of a leading Chinese Investment Bank in Hong Kong. He is very delightful and ready to offer help to new alumni for settling and getting used to the competitive working environment.

Thomas LI

Thomas currently serves as the Event Officer of UI Alumni Association HK Chapter. He graduated in 2011 with Master in Accountancy (Minor in Finance). He is a Certified Public Accountant and member of HKICPA and serves as a Civil Servant in HKSAR Government.

He enjoys reading, travelling, and dining.

Big Ten Representative


Carol CHU

Carol Chu graduated from UIUC with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2011. She returned to Hong Kong and joined Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) and currently a manager with the JLL’s Valuation Advisory Services department. She has been heavily involved in the diversity and inclusion committee within the firm and is part of other professional body’s diversity initiative committee for women empowerment and workplace diversity.

Carol served on the board of HKSA during her years at UIUC. She is currently the secretary for UI Alumni Association HK Chapter from 2014 to 2018. Now she serves as the contact person for UI Alumni Association within the Hong Kong Big Ten Group.
